Founded in 1976 as a successor of the regional unit of the Slovenian Library Association in Kranj (established in 1968), the Library Association of Gorenjska is a voluntary, independent and non-profit association of librarians, which strives to encourage the exchange of experience and information in the field of librarianship.

Membership and activities

The Library Association of Gorenjska covers the Municipality of Kranj and the municipalities of Bled, Bohinj, Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Gorenja vas-Poljane, Jesenice, Jezersko, Kranjska Gora, Naklo, Preddvor, Radovljica, Šenčur, Škofja Loka, Tržič, Železniki, Žiri, and Žirovnica. It is based at the Kranj City Library.

The tasks of the association include organising professional education through lectures and seminars, stimulating co-operation with other regional associations and the Slovenian Library Association, and informing its members on important new initiatives in the fields of librarianship and information science.

The association is a member of the Slovenian Library Association.
