The Puppetry Artists Institution of Slovenia was established in 2001 by a group of puppetry organisations (Ljubljana Puppet Theatre, Jože Pengov Puppet Theatre and the Association of Puppeteers). ULU (Ustanova lutkovnih ustvarjalcev) stimulates the development of puppetry in Slovenia through presentations and educational activities and fosters international cooperation. In 2001 it launched the Slovene Puppetry Biennial. The membership of the Puppetry Artists Institution of Slovenia comprises over 20 puppetry creators, that is, puppetry ensembles, puppet theatres puppetry groups or individuals.

Theatre education in schools

The Puppetry Artists Institution of Slovenia (ULU) also engages in the national education programme. It has established a catalogue of high quality theatre and puppet performances for different age groups with a special emphasis on interactivity. The main goal is to introduce performing arts to youngsters and to actively involve them in the creative process.
