UMco, established in 1992, was originally engaged in commerce, but since 1997 it has expanded its activities into printing and publishing. In 2000, UMco started publishing and distributing Premiera Magazine, a free film and popular culture magazine. A year later, its publishing department was established and, by 2005, more than 50 books had been issued in the so-called Premiera Book Collection, which comprised theoretical works (Blue Premiera), more popular themes (Red Premiera), scripts (Green Premiera), special publications (Mini Premiera) and books on art disciplines other than film (White Premiera). In 2005, UMco launched Bukla Magazine, a magazine on new books and multimedia, which is also available free of charge at cultural venues.

Over time, the publishing house shifted from publishing books on film to a more diverse book programme. Since 2007, UMco is active in the field of publishing psychological literature, with the collection called Preobrazba (Transformation). Since 2011, they publish a collection of socially topical books called Angažirano (Engaged). They also publish journalistic essays and popular science books.

In 2015, Bukla Magazine received special recognition from the Slovene Book Fair for connecting all the links of communicating the circle of bookselling and promoting in Slovenia and the IBBY award for contributing to the promotion of quality youth literature on the Slovenian book market.
