Shots International Short Film Festival was launched in 2016 in Slovenj Gradec, a town in northern Slovenia, by a young and ambitious team of film, media and tourism professionals. It screens a diverse programme of short films from all over the world on three evenings at the Rotenturn courtyard open-air venue in the town's centre. The applications for eligible films are usually open from August until May.

Programme

The festival Shots took a "less is more" approach, meaning that it shows only 20 to 30 short films every year from a vast selection of more than 1500 submissions from all over the world. This approach ensures high programme quality while maintaining a manageable quantity for every visitor. The programme ranges from feature and documentary films to animated shorts.

Accompanying programme

The accompanying programme's main attraction is interesting film guests from the European film scene. Thanks to the team's and town's hospitality, they visit the festival in large numbers and spend the entire duration of the festival in Slovenj Gradec. Concerts by local bands, local cuisine, and visits to the cultural and historical sites of the town and its surroundings are also organised.

Zebra, the animation-friendly festival

Part of the festival is also its smaller and younger brother, the animation-friendly ZEBRA Film Festival, which focuses on animated films for children. It is usually organised on the weekend before the Shots festival.
